What’s happening in the Central Coast: Events to look forward to this September

Back to Blog

One of the great things about the Central Coast is that there’s always something to look forward to. Whether you’ve been living here for years, just moved up or simply in town for a quick getaway, be sure you don’t miss out on anything that might catch your fancy. Check out these events that are taking place this month:

Markets

Happening on the first and third Saturday of every month, the Entrance Farmers Market is the place to find locally sourced fresh produce that are in season, as well as a wide range of gourmet foods, quirky gifts and boutique wines.

Also, don’t forget the Davistown RSL Charity Markets, which are held on the third Sunday of every month. Visit this indoor market with dozens of stalls offering a huge variety of goods and a kids’ playground, and you’ll be doing a good deed too – the markets support Fairhaven Service, a local charity that provides much needed services for adults with disabilities.

Food

This 20th September, Julies Place is celebrating local growers and producers by putting on a multi course meal with wines to complement each course. All food on the day will have been sourced from within a 35 km radius of the venue, and it promises to be quite the treat. Book your seats quick because places are filling up fast.

Entertainment

For those fans of Neddie Seagoon and all things Spike Milligan, the Goon Show Live! arrives in town on 26th September. This wacky and hysterically funny show will take place at the Woy Woy Leagues Club, and tickets are $30 each or $100 for a group of four.

Alternatively, if you prefer a more musical evening, then Original Sin is playing at the Hardy’s Bay Club on the 18th September. Enjoy a night out with the band’s special brand of traditional blues and gospel.

If merely listening isn’t enough for you and you want to join in with the music, perhaps by strumming along a la George Formby (Google him and relive the sounds of a British legend!), then head up to the Central Coast Ukulele Festival. Taking place over two days from 26th to 27th September, this festival brings together both professional and amateur ukulele groups from all over the state. The event will be held at the Entrance, which is located between Newcastle and Sydney and easily accessible by public transport. Once there, you can also head over to Pelican Plaza at 3.30pm to feed the pelicans.

Hobbies

Do you love camping? The Central Coast Four Wheel Drive Caravan Camping and Boat Show is happening from 25th to 27th September at the Mingara Recreation Club in Tumbi Umbi, and it’s not to be missed for camping enthusiasts.

If camping isn’t really your thing but flowers and your garden is, there’s something for you too: the Plant Lovers Fair, which takes place from the 26th to 27th September at Kariong.

September looks to be a busy month for the Central Coast, with something on the calendar for everyone. There’s no excuse for you to not get out there and enjoy yourself – in fact, why not make it a truly special occasion by getting together a group of friends and hiring a limousine for the day?
